When we think of stewardship in relation to soils, we think not only of carefully tending the soil, but also of guarding it and protecting it from harm. Even as stewardship often connotes caring for something that does not belong to you, soil stewardship involves caring for something that has been entrusted to us by nature and whose benefits are there to be enjoyed down through generations.
— Benno P. Warkentin - Stewardship and Soil Health, Footprints in the Soil

We strive to understand how to nurture the living community in soil.

A view of the pond at Stonecroft Farm in Black Creek, BC. Glen and Kathy Beaton of Stonecroft Farm are actively working to improve their fields' living soil community.

Soil is one of the basic foundations of a healthy landscape, and we strive to understand how to nurture its living community.

Regenerating the complex relationships between plants and soil microorganisms has been proven effective in boosting crop health.

Whether managing a garden, farm or public green space, we can support you in achieving your goals because we understand that promoting a thriving soil community is essential in encouraging plant growth and vitality.

I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to learn from Jo. She offered what I think was the most imperative, and effective practices I could have ever learned to implement in the land management work happening at Paradise Fields. Shifting my understanding of soil from a chemical lens to a biological lens has made all the difference in how I approach earth work. I also had fun learning about microorganisms and can’t wait to see where this new position takes me. Thanks Jo!
